ASUS ROG Phone 8 series confirmed to launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC

ASUS is gearing up to launch its next-gen gaming ASUS ROG Phone 8 series, the ROG Phone 8. This time there are three phones expected in the lineup — ASUS ROG Phone 8, ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro, and ASUS ROG Phone 8 Ultimate. The launch date is yet to be announced but ASUS has confirmed the ROG Phone 8 series will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

ASUS ROG Phone 8 chipset confirmed

ASUS officially confirmed that the ROG Phone 8 series will be powered by the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It’s a 4nm chipset with a peak clock speed of 3.3 GHz. The chipset is also loaded with AI capabilities that the company calls it “Titan of on-device intelligence.” Qualcomm said the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is 30 percent more powerful and 20 percent more efficient than the 8 Gen 2.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 also crossed the 2 million mark on the benchmarking platform, AnTuTu. It scored a total of 2,139,281 points, making it the first official record.

With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the ROG Phone 8 series would be one of the fastest Android phones in the market. This would also make the ROG Phone 8 series among the first batch of phones to launch with the new flagship chipset. Xiaomi has already taken the lead with the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered phones, and there are more in line including Vivo, Realme and iQOO.

ASUS ROG Phone 8 series: what we know so far

As for the ROG Phone 8 series, all three phones are expected to be powered by the same chipset. The ROG Phone 8 Ultimate was also spotted Geekbench with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The listing also revealed the phone will come with Android 14 and 16GB RAM. Details about the phones’ specifications and features are still scarce though, so we don’t have much to expect now. As for the launch, it could take place by year-end or early 2024.
