Google Pixel 8a leaked images show Pixel 8 series-like curved edges

Google is launching the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones on October 4th. With every Pixel flagship, Google also launches the affordable ‘A’ series the following year. For the Pixel 8 series, Google is expected to launch the Pixel 8a. Now, images of what’s allegedly the Pixel 8a have appeared online.

The Google Pixel 8a is seen in a bright blue colour, and a design that’s similar to the Pixel 8 series. The phone has curved edges and the camera band housing two sensors at the back. The camera module is also the same colour as the phone like we’ve seen in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Up front, there’s a punch-hole display with the power and volume buttons located on the right side.
The image does show that the phone is most likely the Pixel 8a but it could also be a prototype since there’s still months to go for the launch. The Pixel 7a debuted this year in May, and its successor is also expected to launch around the same time next year.
The Google Pixel 8a smartphone is codenamed Akita, and it had appeared on Geekbench recently. It was running an underclocked version of the Tensor G3 chipset paired with Mali-G715 GPU. The smartphone was also listed with 8GB of RAM, and Android 14. The latest leak of the Pixel 8a also reiterate the phone’s codename, and that it will be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset, the same that will debut on the Pixel 8 series.
