iPhone 14 Pro Max is the most-shipped smartphone of H1 2023

As Apple prepares to unveil the iPhone 15 series in the coming months, a new report highlights its dominance in the list of top 10 smartphones shipped worldwide during the first half of 2023. Notably, the iPhone 14 Pro Max emerges as a frontrunner among the most popular phones, which includes the flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Apple outshines Android: iPhone 14 Pro Max tops the list

  • As per a reportby Omdia, Apple is significantly leading over its rivals, having sold a combined 79.5 million iPhones.
  • The iPhone 14 Pro Max led in smartphone shipments during the first half of 2023, with 26.5 million units shipped.
  • The iPhone 14 Prosecured the second spot with a shipment of 21 million units.
  • Also, the third and fourth spots were ruled by Apple’s iPhone 14and the iPhone 13, with shipments reaching 16.5 million and 15.5 million units, respectively.
  • Samsung’s Galaxy A14secured the fifth position by selling 12.4 million units in the first half of 2023.
  • The South Korean tech giant’s flagship smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, was in the sixth position as it shipped 9.6 million units.
  • The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, Galaxy A54 5G, and Galaxy A34 5G secured the seventh, eighth and ninth positions with a shipment of 9 million, 8.8 million, and 7.6 million units, respectively.
  • Meanwhile, Apple iPhone 11 was in the tenth spot, with 7.4 million units shipped.

The report notes that when comparing the top 10 models from the same period last year, shipments for this year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, the top-ranked model, dropped by 7.2 million units. In the previous year, the iPhone 13 led sales with 33.7 million units shipped.

On the other hand, last year’s report indicated that the iPhone 14 Pro Max led the 5G speed tests in the US, recording average download speeds of 177.2Mbps. Similarly, it held the top position for 5G performance in the UK, boasting speeds of 171.2Mbps.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max was launched last year, starting at Rs 1,39,900 for the 128GB storage variant in India.
