Should you buy OnePlus Open in India?

OnePlus Open costs Rs 1,39,000 (16+512GB) while its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at Rs 1,54,999 (12+256GB). So, it is more affordable and offers more RAM (in its base and only variant) to begin with.

It also sports a more functional and seemingly crease-free screen. This is thanks to the proprietary Flexion Hinge buttressing the screen. This whole design makes the foldable light, but strong enough to withstand a million folds in 5 years. The Samsung foldable in comparison only offers 200,000 folds in the same duration.

It also bags a bigger battery and faster charging support compared to a Galaxy Z Fold 5. Last but not least, the OxygenOS software inside is tailored with several features to aid multitasking like Triple Splits for opening 3 app windows and App Stack at the bottom of the screen. The company is also giving 4 years of platform upgrades and 5 years of security patches.

However, it isn’t without its shortcomings like a missing wireless charging support and only IPX4 water resistance. If you want to know more about the various reasons to buy or not buy the OnePlus Open, read this.
