Pure EV launches India’s cheapest electric bike priced under Rs 1 lakh, but there’s a catch

Pure EV has launched its new electric bike for the Indian market which is called the Pure ecoDryft. The new electric bike is said to have been developed in Hyderabad and will be manufactured at Pure EV’s manufacturing facility there. The Pure ecoDryft has been launched at a launch price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it the cheapest electric bike in the country, and will be available across Pure EV dealerships in the country.

Pure ecoDryft electric bike price, availability

The Pure ecoDryft electric bike gets a sticker price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom). However, this price is limited to buyers from Delhi. The ecoDryft will be available for sale in other cities across the country for a price of Rs 1,14,999 (ex-showroom). The EV will be available in Black, Grey, Blue, and Red colour options.

Rohit Vadera, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of PURE EV mentioned in a statement that the company has sent out demo vehicles across 100+ dealerships in the country and the company has started taking bookings for the ecoDryft electric bike. The company aims to start deliveries by March 2023 for the first batch of customers. Pure EV also plans to diversify to South Asian, African and Middle Eastern markets.

Pure ecoDryft electric bike specifications

The Pure ecoDryft electric bike gets an AIS 156 certified 3.0 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery pack that gets a separate battery management system (BMS). This is paired to a 3 kW motor. This powertrain helps the electric bike go up to a claimed top speed of 75kmph with a zero to 60kmph time of 10 seconds.

The ecoDryft delivers a range of 85km to 135km on a single charge. The EV charges via a supplied 60 V 10A CAN Communication-enabled charger that charges it from 20 to 80 percent in three hours. The Pure ecoDryft claims to have 12 degrees of gradability and 140kg load-carrying capacity. The electric bike also boasts of having three riding modes – Drive Mode, Cross-over Mode and Thrill Mode.

The Pure ecoDryft electric bike gets a 7-inch display that shows various vehicle stats such as speedometer and odometer readings. Other features include LED lighting, front disc brakes, remote locking with an anti-theft function, and regenerative braking.
